HOW DOES NAET WORK?
An allergy is an immune response that occurs when the body comes into contact with a substance that is perceived as a threat to its well-being. The body’s immune system prepares to fight off the allergen by releasing histamine and antibodies. The result is an adverse allergic reaction and symptoms such as respiratory problems and skin conditions. The purpose of NAET is to stop the allergic reaction by having the body no longer perceive the substance as a threat.
The way to most successfully accomplish this is by treating allergens one at a time each visit. Basic essential nutrients are treated first, to improve digestion and absorption of the food we consume on a daily basis. During the treatment, acupressure is used on the back to lightly stimulate the nervous system while in the presence of the allergen in the form of a homeopathic vial. This process is a way of reintroducing the body to a particular allergen and changing the body’s perception of the allergen as a threat. The substance must then be avoided for 25 hours to process the treatment. Typically only one treatment is needed per substance, however moderate to severe allergies may require multiple treatments.
NAET has been successfully performed on patients of all ages in our clinic, from infants to the elderly. Children will receive NAET alone, while adults will receive acupuncture subsequent to the NAET treatment. Combining acupuncture with NAET has demonstrated to be a more effective approach since specific immune-related acupuncture points are directly activated during treatment.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ANY ALLERGIES?
Many people with complex and “mysterious” health problems do not realize that the underlying cause of their affliction may have immune origins, namely a sensitivity. While an allergy will trigger an immediate reaction, a sensitivity will cause a delayed reaction that may not show up for hours or days. This delayed reaction makes it difficult to realize that a sensitivity is present and the person will typically continue coming into contact with the substance. Unfortunately, this repeated exposure causes inflammation in the body and weakens the immune system, making the person sicker and more susceptible to further illness and disease.
Sensitivities can be detected through blood tests or muscle response testing and then eliminated with NAET treatment. NAET brings the immune system back into balance and helps it recover from a chronically inflamed state.
