Nutrient IVs and Injections

About Nutrient IVs

At our clinic, nutrient IV therapy is a personalized experience designed with your unique health needs in mind. Unlike standard, pre-formulated options available elsewhere, our IVs are fully customized by a naturopathic doctor following a comprehensive evaluation. This ensures every ingredient aligns with your health goals and supports your wellness safely and effectively. By delivering nutrients directly into the bloodstream, IV therapy bypasses the gut lining, making it an excellent option for those with chronic gut issues or anyone looking to optimize nutrient absorption as part of their healing journey. Whether you’re aiming to boost energy, enhance immune function, or promote relaxation, our tailored IV therapies are crafted to help you feel your best. With a focus on quality, safety, and personalized care, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

To ensure the best experience and optimal results during your IV appointment, it’s important to prepare ahead of time. Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water in the hours leading up to your appointment, as this can help make the process smoother. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to allow for easy access to your arms. Lastly, enjoy a light, balanced meal beforehand to maintain your energy levels and promote a positive experience. If you are a new IV patient, you will have to fill out intake forms prior to your appointment.

After your IV therapy, it’s essential to prioritize hydration by continuing to drink plenty of water throughout the day. While you can return to your normal daily activities, we recommend avoiding strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for a few hours to allow your body to fully absorb the benefits of the treatment. Most patients feel refreshed and energized, but it’s always best to listen to your body and take it easy if needed.

The length of an IV therapy session varies depending on the type of treatment, but you can typically expect it to take anywhere from 45 to 75 minutes. This includes the time needed for setup, administration, and a brief post-treatment observation to ensure everything went smoothly.

If you’ve had challenges with IV placement in the past due to difficult veins, we’ve got you covered. Our clinic is equipped with advanced technology, including a vein finder, to make the process as efficient and comfortable as possible. To further assist, we recommend that patients stay well-hydrated and relaxed 24 hours before their appointment, as both factors can help improve vein accessibility. If you have specific concerns, don’t hesitate to discuss them with our team in advance.

An IV consists of 250-1000ml of electrolyte fluid mixed with nutrients that is administered intravenously, or through a vein, directly into the bloodstream. The nutrients may include a combination of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants based on the formula chosen on our menu.

Rather than having to be digested and absorbed in the stomach, these nutrients are immediately absorbed into the bloodstream. The difference in the absorption rate is 20-50% when taking oral supplements compared to 90% through an IV. Also, a much higher potency and concentration of nutrients can be given through IV allowing you to overcome nutritional deficiencies quickly.

An injection is a quick shot taking only a few seconds that is administered intramuscularly either into the gluteal or deltoid muscle. The nutrients are less concentrated than with IVs due to the smaller volume that can be injected into the muscle. Results are also not as immediate because the muscle needs to metabolize the nutrients, however the absorption rate is nearly equal to that of an IV.

After an IV, the nutrients remain in your system and maintain levels for 2-3 weeks.

For preventative health and wellness, we recommend 1 or 2 IVs per month to help balance any nutritional deficiencies. Weekly IV therapy may be necessary for people who suffer from advanced stages of autoimmune conditions or cancer.

IV Therapy Post-Care

  • You can remove your compression wrap 15 minutes after the IV, but will need to apply pressure and elevate your arm if the site is still bleeding. This is to avoid scar tissue
  • Feel free to apply a cold pack if you are concerned about potential bruising or swelling
  • Stay hydrated after the appointment
  • Do not be alarmed if your urine is pinkish in color, which may occur if you have received B vitamins
  • Symptoms post IV are uncommon, but it is important to remain hydrated and drink at least 16-32oz of water after the infusion
  • Dehydration may result in headaches, nausea, joint pain, blurred vision, cramping, and disorientation
  • You may experience improved energy, mental clarity, sleep, etc.
  • However if you feel tired or unwell after the IV, it is generally an indication of detoxification or significant nutritional deficiencies. Continuing with treatment should lead to an overall improvement in health and well-being.
  • Contact us if you experience the following:
    • Significant redness at the IV site
    • Increasing swelling at the IV site
    • Numbness or weakness in the arm IV catheter was placed
    • Pain for more than 24 hours at the IV site
    • Hives or rash
    • Extensive or prolonged bruising for more than 2 weeks
    • Continuous dizziness or nausea
